There are some people within “Christian” circles that believe/teach that satan is not an actual being, but only our own sinful inclination. The problem with this:

A) Genesis 1:27 – God created Man in His own image, in the image of God He created them

> being in God’s image means that Man did not begin as a sinner, or in sin, or with a sinful inclination

> therefore, the temptation to disobedience HAD to come from OUTSIDE of themselves

!! IF satan were nothing more than Man’s own sinful desires, but Genesis 1:27 is true; sin would have been IMPOSSIBLE

B) Hebrews 9:14 – Christ… offered himself without blemish

1 Peter 1:19 – but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished & spotless, the blood of Christ

1 Peter 2:22 – Christ, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in his mouth

2 Corinthians 5:21 – God made Christ who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf

1 John 3:5 – You know that Christ appeared in order to take away sins; and in him there is no sin

> JESUS KNEW NO SIN, THEREFORE, COULD NOT HAVE BEEN TEMPTED IF SATAN WERE ONLY INTERNAL SINFUL DESIRES !!

C) Matthew 4:3 – And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread”

> the word ‘came’ means to approach, from an external position

> this understanding is well understood from the article:  Satan, the Devil pg3-4
