Jesus in the likeness of sinful flesh

Romans 8:3
For what the law was not able to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and as an offering for sin. He condemned sin in the flesh,

Romans 6
[3] Or do you not know that all of us who were baptized into union with Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
[4] Therefore, we were buried with him by baptism into union with his death, in order that just as Christ was raised out from among the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also could walk in a new way of life.
[5] For if we have become united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be in a resurrection like his.

} Jesus was raised from the dead, he did not raise himself
} Jesus was raised… through the glory of the Father, not by any power within himself
} If Jesus were God we could not “become united with him in his death” because God cannot die

     + 1 Timothy 6
[13] I charge you in the sight of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession,
[14] that you keep the commandment without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
[15] which He will bring about in its proper time—He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords,
[16] who only has immortality, living in unapproachable light; whom no one has seen, nor is able to see
, to whom be honor and might forever. Amen.

} the last two descriptors: “whom no one has seen, nor is able to see” show that the one being spoken of is God, the Father, not Jesus

Matthew 4
[1] Then Jesus was led up by the spirit into the desert to be tempted by the Devil.
} the fact that Jesus could be tempted proves that he is not God, because:

     + James 1:13
No one should say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself does not tempt anyone.

[2] And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he was hungry.
[3] And the Tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
[4] But he answered and said, “It is written, Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”[Deuteronomy 8:3.]

} Why should Jesus make a reference to Man/Humans living by every word of God, IF he himself were God? To do so doesn’t fit, doesn’t make sense; until you understand that Jesus himself had only a human nature and also had to live by the words of God.

Matthew 3
[13] Then Jesus arrived from Galilee to the Jordan, coming to John to be baptized by him.
[14] But John tried to prevent him, saying, “I have the need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”
[15] But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for in this way it is proper for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.
[16] And when Jesus had been baptized, immediately as he stepped away from the water, Look!, the heavens were opened to him and he saw the spirit of God descending as a dove and coming upon him,
[17] and Look!, a voice came out of heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

{15} If Jesus is God, what righteousness is there to be fulfilled by his baptism?

{16} If Jesus is a member of a triune God, how could he ever be separated from a part of himself, only to get it back again?

{17} Even God, from heaven, only tells us that Jesus is His Son, nothing about Jesus being God

Matthew 4
[8] Again, the Devil took him to an exceedingly lofty mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them,
[9] and he said to him, “All these things I will give you if you will fall down and worship me.”
[10] Then Jesus says to him, “Be gone, Adversary! For it is written, Worship Yahweh your God, and serve him only. [Deuteronomy 6:13.]

} The devil, originally created as an angel to serve in God’s presence, knew the difference between God and Jesus. So why would he think to entice Jesus with worldly goods, in order to receive worship from Jesus, if Jesus were God? Even the devil knows that Jesus is not God!

Matthew 16
[13] Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
[14] And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”
[15] He says to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
[16] And Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
[17] And Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

[18] And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my congregation, and the gates of the grave will not prevail against it.

} God revealed that Jesus is the Messiah, nothing about him being a member of a trinity, or his being God

} Jesus stated that on the bedrock of understanding Jesus as the Messiah, who is the [human] Son of God, is where he would build his church – NOT believing him to be God
