To the Person Who Says, “God Can’t Love Me”

Please walk with me through John 3:16

“For God so loved” – the verb is past tense only because the act described in this verse has already taken place, it does NOT mean that God no longer loves you.

“the world” – not the planet earth, rather, the people on it; not as a collective, but as individuals – THIS MEANS YOU (see “whoever”).

“that He gave His only begotten Son” – Mankind is a part of God’s Creation that has the opportunity to become children; whereas Jesus is the one and only human to exist by God’s personal involvement in the process of procreation. Jesus is the only son God brought into being by birth, which makes him of immeasurable value, yet God made him the sacrifice for your sin, so that you don’t have to die for it yourself = = God gave something very valuable for YOU – BECAUSE He can and does love you.

“that whoever believes in him (Jesus)” – ‘whoever’ indicates a single individual, it shows that the earlier term ‘the world‘ does not mean people (as a collective) but as individual persons, & thus the act and statement apply to you as much as anyone else.

“shall not perish, but have eternal life” – when the world as we know it has passed away, and God’s kingdom is manifest on the earth, only those who have trusted in Jesus’ sacrifice for their own sin will live eternally. All others burn up in the Lake of Fire and will no longer exist

Please read carefully, and talk to God about, the following verses:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes (trusts) in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

2 Peter 3:9 God is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for anyone to perish but for all to come to repentance

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us

Romans 6:10 For the death that he (Jesus) died, he died to sin once for all; but the life that he lives, he lives to God

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that he might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit

Matthew 26:27-28 And when he had taken a cup and given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins

Acts 10:43 Of him (Jesus) all the prophets bear witness that through his name (authority) everyone who believes (trusts) in him receives forgiveness of sins.

Acts 26:18 (Jesus speaking) to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified (set apart as holy) by faith in me.

Colossians 1:13-14 For He (God) rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Psalm 103:10-14 [10] He (God, the Father) has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. [11] For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who respect Him. [12] As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us (if you walk east you will continually walk east as east & west never meet and thus never end; the same is not true of north & south). [13] Just as a father has compassion on his children, so God has compassion on those who respect Him. [14] For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.

Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are (trusting) in Christ Jesus.

When we believe anything contrary to God’s own words, we are listening to the lies of God’s enemy – our enemy also. Read and re-read these verses, sing them to yourself, create lock screens for your phone with them – do anything you can in order to put them into your heart, that they will become the truth you live by – because it is the truth. GOD LOVES YOU VERY MUCH!!

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is (trusting) in Christ, he (or she) is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
