Focusing on the Correct Parts of Climate Change

Climate Change More Than Meets the Skies

“Greta Thunberg, a 15-year-old student from Sweden, captured the attention of the world recently when she shamed climate change negotiators at a United Nations climate summit in Poland.

“You are not mature enough to tell it like is,” she said at the COP24 summit”

It is nice to see one so young taking an interest in bigger issues than Facebook or video games, but, unfortunately, she has missed the mark on the issue as well. Climate Change is so much more than the weather on our planet, but no one seems to understand this: Respect for God is the beginning of wisdom, and knowing the Holy One is understanding – Proverbs 9:10

All things of God’s creation are under the ordinances and plan of God, and His book speaks to the issue of climate change – the reason for its happening:

2 Peter 3:3-13 NASBS

The Coming Day of the Lord

[3] Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,

[4] and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”

[5] For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,

[6] through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.

[7] But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

[8] But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

A New Heaven and Earth

[9] YAHWEH is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

[10] But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

[11] Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,

[12] looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!

[13] But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

Climate Change – as we call it – is a part of God’s plan for the Earth, it will serve the purpose of bringing the sinful world to an end in order that all things can be made new in righteousness for eternity. Therefore, to think that Mankind is able to do anything to stop or reverse the course of things is foolishness on our part.

God is taking His time about the preheat that will lead to all things burning and melting because He wishes to give all people an opportunity to come to Him through Messiah that they can be with Him in His New Heaven and Earth for eternity. THIS ought to be our focus at this time, for there is nothing we can do to prevent or thwart God’s already determined course.

Being on planet Earth as it enters the last phase of its existence should serve as great motivation to those who identify as Believers safe in the Messiah. Our sense of urgency should be great, but it seems we do not follow the words of Yeshua:

Matthew 16:1-4 NASBS

[1] The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.

[2] But He replied to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’

[3] And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?

[4] An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” And He left them and went away.

May we all humble ourselves before God, seeking peace with Him in righteousness
